Jackson Elliott (b. 1989 Chicago, IL)
I use painting and drawing as a means of communication. The act of making is a way of speaking, "Now I will show you better than I can tell you." What I seek to tell in my work is exposed to varied processes of translation and interpretation. The application of a medium offers its own translation, and each viewer may format their own valid interpretation in recieving the work. My process can be explained as a psychovisual game of telephone which I first play by myself—what I see, what I think, and how I feel, what I seek to tell—are passed along into the work. Ultimately, the message is carried to the viewer.
